About Us

Hi, I'm Matt. I founded Seeds for Change to raise money for some of the poorest communities and children in Africa. In recent years I've travelled across Malawi, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Zambia, Eswatini, Rwanda, Ghana, and more. In that time, I've come across countless remote communities that government resources and existing charities struggle to reach, and where donations go a very long way.

Our aid work is primarily focused around two core areas:

  1. Providing basic life resources (food, shelter and clothing)

  2. Providing better access to early-years education

As a small charity, we have no paid employees or meaningful cost base (and our small running costs are funded by our founder and trustees), so your entire donation goes towards its desired cause.

Our Impact

So far, we've supported more than 400 children across Malawi and Uganda, helping to give them a stronger start and greater opportunity in life.

We started with small projects, collecting donations to provide essentials such as school supplies, school uniforms, hot meals & clothes for children in remote villages. For example, in Malawi, children are not allowed to attend school without a school uniform. The £7.90 required to buy a uniform is a cost that many families cannot afford. Through donations in early 2024, we were able to purchase 100-200 uniforms, allowing hundreds of children to go to school who previously weren’t able to.

More recently, we have focused our efforts on larger projects that have more long-lasting benefits, such as building and expanding schools & orphanages. In late 2024, we helped to re-build an orphanage in Malawi, providing beds and a classroom for 30-40 orphans. In early 2025, we started fundraising to build a new orphanage and primary school in Kihihi, Uganda. The small village borders a national park and has more than 80 orphans, whose parents were killed by wild animal attacks. After an initial round of fundraising, construction is underway on housing and classrooms. We are now looking for additional funds to help build a playground, kitchen & provide one hot meal a day for the children.

Your Donations

One of the hardest parts of charity work in Africa is ensuring that your donations reach the desired communities directly. How do we go about this?

  1. Firstly, we only setup projects to support children & families in communities we have visited first hand.

  2. Secondly, we provide aid directly to a member of the community who we have met and trust (e.g. an NGO worker, village chief, etc).

  3. Thirdly, we collect receipts and photos of our impact for each donation.

  4. Finally, we visit the communities in person, to ensure your donations are having maximum impact.

We're committed to transparency and impact; 96% of your donations go directly towards our charitable endeavours, while the remaining 3-4% covers unavoidable card processing & FX transaction fees. All other costs associated with running the charity, are covered by the charities trustees - so that your generous donations end up exactly where desired!

The difference you can make...

Whether it's £1 or £1,000, every donation has the power to change a child's life. Below are just a few examples of how far your donations can go

Malawi Project

85p for a hot meal...

Many children rely on a hot meal at school as their only hot meal of the day. Therefore, we collaborate with primary schools and nurseries to supply meals for these children.

Uganda Project

£7.90 for a school uniform...

In Malawi, wearing a school uniform is mandatory for children. Unfortunately, for many families, this expense is beyond their means. A uniform costs just £7.90, which can enable a child to go to school.

Uganda Project

£45 for stationary for a school classroom for 1 year...

In numerous schools, children lack access to essential tools like pencils & paper for learning. In some instances, teachers resort to drawing in the dirt with sticks as a teaching method. Supplying basic educational resources enhances learning immensely.

Uganda Project

£95 for teachers salaries for a nursery per term...

Although many staff members are volunteers, paying teachers contributes to a stronger and more sustainable education system.

Malawi Project
£890 can build a playground for a school...

Playgrounds encourage creativity and provide a safe space for children to engage in physical activity, fostering their physical and social development.

Malawi Project
+£10,000 can build an entire orphanage or nursery...

There are countless remote villages, where school government facilities simply do not have the capacity to allow all the children to receive an education.

Thank you for helping us get this far...
